home town winter recreational ice skating is only waiting for freezing temperatures

Yes, on lakes, some cooperative rivers, and backyard rinks. Also there are some indoor arenas.
My backyard flooded last winter in an unusual midwinter rain event, went skating for fun after it froze.

(887 posts)4. Yes. Many neighborhood parks in MN still flood and put up skating rinks with lights and warming houses.

... but I live just outside Chicago in a town that sets up outdoor rinks in a few parks (weather permitting).
