The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAm I the only one who suddenly can't watch most videos because they demand that I sign in, without providing
a way to do so? It's bad enough that many don't have closed captioning for those of us who are severely hearing impaired, but now they block us entirely if we can't find a way to "sign in." This is a recent development. I can't help wondering what the advantage is for blocking viewers.

(5,251 posts)I dont know exactly whats going on, but I think its YouTube putting the squeeze on. It happens with embedded videos, and then when I follow the link to YouTubes I get the same thing.

(13,253 posts)The choice is to accept only. There is no mechanism allowing you to reject any part of their data collection. Republicans have ensured that we have no protections from the predatory companies that monetize our personal data. I expect much of the internet to be unusable within a couple of years unless you agree to sign up for most websites.

Also, beware of any postings with the standard image of the person showing major surprise or major disgust.
It is all hype and it is all no surprise at all, considering where they got the idea from in the first place. (Marketing 101.)

(100,274 posts)Every couple days or so. I just wait a little while, sometimes only about 15 minutes, and then they will play again. Sometimes if I watch a utoob short, the regular videos will play after that. Don't know what it's about but those are the things I have noticed when it happens.
