I loved most sugary cereal, though. Cocoa Puffs were a fav.
I love Chex mix but have never made it.

(29,593 posts)It was good, and kind of grainy. I also liked Rice Krinkles, though I cringe now at the packaging, which featured an Asian-themed character in a rice paddy hat pushing a rickshaw. In fact, they often came with a little plastic rickshaw inside. They were a sweetened version of Rice Krispies, but they had a slightly different flavor from Frosted Flakes.
I also loved the little single sized boxes. We spent summers near Battle Creek and toured the Kellogg plant a couple of times (I don't recall doing this for Post) and at the end, you got a few free samples of the small boxes.

Although I made mine so thick I'd eat them w a spoon.

Finally, in my late teens we had Malt-Ómeal. It came in small boxes and so the portions were smaller. At that age I was always hungry and I was happy to have a great big bowl of oatmeal again.

(23,661 posts)I also loved Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat and Cream of Rice. My mom cooked the Old fashioned oats which take 10 minutes to cook and probably did not use quick cooking Cream of Wheat either. I am on Team Thick for my hot cereals too.
Nowadays I still love oatmeal but it's steel cut instead of milled. It does OK in the microwave if you cook it so it won't overflow. I use a flat dish about 2 inches deep and I don't have to worry.
I would cook Ralston again if I could find it.
After seeing posts about Farina I had to look it up since I had always wondered what it was. Turns out it is actually the generic form of Cream of Wheat !
Cold cereals I like the Chex cereals and shredded wheat.
