But this Bird of Paradise will look a lot different Monday morning when its 28.
Reminds me of Johnny Carson as Carnac: May the Bird of Paradise fly up your nose.

(12,876 posts)We used to have a freeze every other year, usually 30. This will be our fifth consecutive winter freeze and its remaining below freezing longer. Three years in a row, its gotten down to 17. Thats historic.

(4,544 posts)The colder the air temps the fluffier the snow so what might have been measured as 4 to 6 inches will likely stack up as 10 to 20. It's about 8F here.

(33,290 posts)of snow from the storm this weekend. Now we might get a dusting of snow, but up to 1/2 an inch of ice is predicted, which means high probability of widespread power outages. Lots of trees in central NC and many overhead power lines which will come down with that much ice.
We are hoping for sleet instead of freezing rain. Sleet will bounce off the trees and power lines while freezing rain ices the trees and power lines.

(9,973 posts)Here in suburban ATL we could get about 1/2" of ice, enough to knock the power out. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Stay safe & warm, everyone!

(11,659 posts)I always say, "It's Buffalo, ya' never know."
We could get 4 inches and or 30 inches. Luckily I live in the Northtowns and not the Southtowns. The Southtowns are always getting hammered with snow.
I know all the snow skiers will be estactic after this incoming storm.

(743 posts)North of Boston and interior NH looking at 12 to 18 inches. More on the coast. At least it's the light, fluffy stuff that's easier to shovel.

(1,844 posts)with the snowblower yet. Just have to push the shovel to remove it. He will go out every few hours to keep the driveway and sidewalk to front door clear. Hell likely use the leaf blower to do the deck and patio for the dog.
We wont lose power unless someone slams their car into a pole. But, we have a whole house generator so I dont have to worry if that happens.
Thats because Air France told me Thursday night that my flight from Washington to Paris, scheduled for Sunday, was definitely not going to happen, and all flights from airports in the eastern U.S. to Europe for Saturday were booked solid. Their agent on their toll-free number, which connected with Paris, said they had exactly one free seat in Business class left for Friday, if I wanted that. I asked my brother if we could cancel all our meetings scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and we figured all the people we were going to see had probably left for their home states/districts anyway, so I said Id take it if the rebooking wouldn't cost too much.
The Air France agent asked me to hold the line for a few seconds while she calculated. She came back and said it was bad news, and due to the heavy demand, and there being just one seat left, the rebooking would cost $4000. I said that was ridiculous, and reminded her that I was Platinum for Life with Air France, and it was THEIR recommendation that I rebook due to the near certain cancellation of my Sunday flight. She said I had a valid point, and would check with her supervisor. As it turned out, Air France had been working on the North America weather problem for hours, and the word came back to rebook me free of charge (Toto, I dont think were dealing with American Airlines any more).
So, I made it out of Washington with no problem, got to Paris pretty much on time the next morning, and made the terminal transfer including EU immigration in less than an hour. i had to vegetate in Terminal 2G for nearly four hours, but the onward flight to Düsseldorf was just 50 minutes, and our neighbor was there to pick me up. The drive to the house was all of 16 minutes, since there was neither ice nor snow in the Rheinland on Saturday afternoon. Since I have to be in Belgium tomorrow, France on Wednesday and Berlin on Thursday, I guess my early departure was a blessing in disguise. I actually got some sleep for once!
