Just made a first pass on the snow. It's filling back up as fast as I can shovel it.
Used the leaf blower to blow off the cars. Whenever I do that, my fingertips freeze immediately.
I've had enough of this shit. I'm selling the house and moving SOUTH.
Maybe from Southern NY to Northern PA.
I hope that's the right move.

(31,243 posts)Three years ago, I shut off our old, inefficient propane whole house heater. At minimum, we spent over $1200 a year to heat the house for four months. For some reason, I thought we could get a heat pump through the IRA from Biden era, but Sister Sarah ended the program the minute she got control of Arkansas, and so we are using space heaters. They work for the most part, but are also inefficient, but the highest bill has been $500, with it mostly being around $300, so we are saving a few hundred dollars every year. I'm almost finished insulating the windows and the temp is moving up exponentially, but I'm still tucking myself under the covers and napping a lot.
We're supposed to reach the low 40s next week, and I'm looking forward to that balmy weather.

We are on a budget for our electric and gas. $222/month x 12 months = $2,664/year. But the thing is, we always blow the budget, even when our usage goes down via conserving energy, because the cost of the raw gas and electricity keeps rising.
So in addition to the $2,664, we have to pay a pretty large lump sum at final budget payment #12. So then, they adjust the budget upward for the following year, and we keep blowing past that higher budget payment too. It's crazy.

(22,408 posts)For some reason my fingertips always become so painful that I have to go into the heated garage for awhile.
It's some weird thing that I have...and they don't even turn color, they just start stinging.

(50 posts)With Reynards, your fingers dont necessarily change colourin the early stages. Its an autoimmune disease that can progress if you arent careful. You might want to get tested.
My niece has to wear heated gloves for the cold, even when getting anything out of a freezer in a store in the middle of the summer. Her fingers turn purple otherwise and its very painful.

(26,701 posts)Let's see; wool mittens, but underneath are cut wool glove fingers from fingertips to just above the knuckles to not restrict motion. Maybe use a finer knit of wool gloves.
It's a thought. Maybe it'll help. 🤞 👍
