One day, in a few months, I will walk outside

and I will notice, for the first time (although it slowly had been happening), that the grass is green and the leaves are coming back on the trees and I will smile. It always comes as such a surprise and revelation to me that I didn't notice that it was happening until it was there. Then this horrible, miserable, bitterly cold winter will be a memory and future conversations will start with "remember how bad the winter of 2026 was?"

Oh, how I look forward to that day!

and I'd rather have this kind of ice than the other ICE. I'm afraid that ICE will still be here when spring comes, and good weather won't be a relief if it is.

For winter’s rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.

– Algernon Charles Swinburne
