Always thought I hated veggies.
Turns out I hated vinegar.
Veggies are great without it. Who knew.

(40,887 posts)A friend uses El Tapitio, w/o vinegar, & turns out I like hot sauce just fine!! In fact I go through a bottle every couple of months. 🌶️

(4,498 posts)My horse would race to the asparagus growing along the banks and eat it like candy.
One day I saw the asparagus before he did, tied him to a stump and tried raw wild asparagus for the first time in my life. It is delicious, I think much better than cooked.
My horse was much smarter than I was then.
Still miss that horse.

(502 posts)in pots of collards and turnip greens and corn. Bacon cooked in pots of pinto beans, navy beans, green beans and butterbeans. Baby limas were cooked with bacon drippings, garlic, salt and pepper. (now I use NoSalt.) Crumbled bacon adorned many dishes.
I cook veggies the way Mom did. Might make dieticians faint and fall in it, but it sure is larrupin!
