round robin is a system where every participant, team, or item in a group takes a turn, faces every other participant, or is processed in a set, rotating order. Common in sports tournaments, it ensures everyone plays everyone else, while in business or computing, it is used for fair scheduling, task distribution, or brainstorming to provide equal opportunity and efficiency.

Origin:
The term is derived from the 17th-century French term ruban (ribbon), which was corrupted over time to "robin". It originally referred to petitions where signatures were arranged in a circle to hide the order of signers, protecting sailors or others from retribution.
