The town's first all-you-can eat Chinese restaurant had opened in, I believe, '94.

The town already had a Chinese restaurant since the '70s - but it was a fine dining establishment (goldfish aquarium in the foyer, costumed hosts and waiters and all).

Anyway - once, a big refrigerator-sized guy came in, and just kept going back to the buffet for more and more. And more....

Until the owner had to confront him.

"Why you keep going back? This your 7th time!"

"Well," the big guy protested. "It says 'All You Can Eat', don't it?"

"Yes - but that for normal people. You go NOW!"

And wouldn't you know it - this feisty, 5' tall Chinese guy herded a 6'7", 300+lb. guy outside without laying a hand on him.

We laughed about that at work for days.

We would walk in and the hostesses would start crying, because there went the profits for the day, or maybe the week.

Damn, I miss that restaurant!

I had missed lunch and was a scrawny thang who worked out every day, so he didn't think I was capable of putting away 3 or 4 slices of pizza and a plateful of spaghetti. It was close to closing so he was probably gonna throw it all out anyway. So he snidely asked me if I got enough as I was heading out the door. I smiled and said I hoped I'd have room for dessert.

Let Kitty eat!

when I was TDY staying in a hotel I invited a truck driver who had parked overnight nearby to join me at the breakfast buffet - I swear I'd never before seen someone eat six kinds of meat
