(12,228 posts)We were piled into our station wagon me and my sisters and the 3 girls who lived across the street by our mothers for a shopping trip to Goodwill, singing that song at the top of our lungs. We loved the cuss words and yelled them out, to our moms mortification. Rest in peace, Country Joe (and any Fish who have passed on).

(2,122 posts)Vietnam could be changed to Iran easily. And a group of protestors could go from bar to bar getting everyone on there too join in. I'm going to start working on it.

(90,602 posts)Back when many of us realized that we HAD TO start speaking up. Some of us did it with our music.
Bless you, Country Joe. You gave our discontent a big loud - and VERY tuneful - voice.

(97,209 posts)We bled inside each other's wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace
Some came to sing, some came to pray
Some came to keep the dark away
