The 2026 Preakness is going to be held at Laurel Park, Laurel, Maryland

Pimlico is closed for a $400 million renovation. Attendance is capped at 4800 people. Tickets will be sold as a 2 day event.

Decades ago, I was an assistant administrator in the ER that provided the highest volume of care for Preakness attendees. It was an absolute nightmare. Before they prohibited glass containers, our surgical unit was inundated with patients needing stitches. Then there were the drug overdoses, the victims of fist fights, , sun stroke, and food and alcohol poisoning. I was very happy to leave that work setting and shift into university life.
