Now there's a blast from my very distant past...

I relocated last year and am still poring through the stuff I've had in storage for years but had no way to sort through it until now and I have been finding some things I forgot about.

There are many things I have retained for the purpose of memory aids as I prepare to compose my memoirs.

One thing I didn't expect to find was my old CB radio from my bad-girl truck driver days! It's a serious piece of electronic equipment, top of the line for back then but also enhanced, because I needed to reach distances with it. I wonder if it's still worthy of use for some driver somewhere. Gave me a good chuckle when I found it. Still in great condition and usable, I might even have the special microphone that went with it, maybe, might have sold that already since I haven't seen it yet.

I know my wife’s family and an uncle of mine had them in their cars. They knew where the cops were.

As I blasted across the continent at high speeds. I had it set up for bi-linear use though I didn't have that component. Just stroping and removing limiters gave me a good 40 to 50 miles of range and could stomp other radios when they tried to talk over me, as some guys did to be assholes. Granted, I was going fast, in some cases 50 hours from LA to NYC.

It's a Cobra 29 LTD, best radio I had back then, spared me from possible jail time.

I had friends who opened a CB store in the mid 70s. It proved to be an interesting way to go broke.

The oil field machine shop I retired from, all 5 trucks that went into the field had CBs, never know when one
might come in handy.

I just don't know if this is still a desired unit, if it is, it's for sale!

XXXXXXXX CB, model # XXXXX for sale, see what pops up. The older units that will reach out a long
distance and talk to someone are still in demand.
