At least I think that's what they were called. Dry, with no milk or sugar.

(6,616 posts)Before they disappeared from the stores they were my favorite cereal. I would eat any sweetened cereal though, from Rice Crispies to Corn Pops, Alpha Bits, or Super Sugar Crisps.

(3,072 posts)and every now and again, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It's been a while though for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
I dont eat dry cereal much anymore because all the boxes are Giant Size or Family Size. What do one-or-two-member households do with that much cereal? It's way too much for me.

(2,120 posts)and in today's nightmare world would probably be a devote member of the Worm Brain/MAHA Cult. While she usually pushed hot cereals such as Mother's Oats and Cream of Wheat, the Mom "approved' cold cereals were Wheaties, Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes, and Raisin Bran (she apparently missed or ignored the sugar sprinkled on the raisins). However as a treat on rare and special occasions, she would grant us the thrill of selecting one of the Kellogg's Variety Packs with all the sugary/fun delights inside. It made us feel like we were rebels and being naughty badasses.

Older still and approaching those dieting teen years: Product 19 (no longer made), Special K, and splurge: Raisin Bran
Last time I had commercial packaged breakfast cereal? Considerably more than ten years ago. For me, it triggers cravings given its processed carbs and sugar. Apparently doesn't for many others, but that is a deal breaker for me. Frankly, once started, I could go through an entire box of Kellogg's Raisin Bran and milk nowadays! But, I don't (for multiple important reasons...LOL )
TMI? Sorry. Just thinking back...

(8,477 posts)But mostly I remember the single serving boxes and cutting them open with a serrated knife along the barely perforated cardboard.
I think Mom stocked bigger boxes of non-sugar types and would buy the fun packs just on occasion.
