Are debutants still being "introduced?"

A nice episode of Elsbeth where such event was the main story. (no spoiler).

The protagonist was an actor by the name of J. Smith-Cameron. From Succession.

She decided to emulate former Vogue editor Anna Wintour with a recognisable pageboy bob hair style and large sunglasses and succeeded perfectly.

Am still curious of whether debutants are still being introduced, at least in New York.

Sometimes the debs take a deep curtsy, such as all-the-way-to-the-floor curtsy. Fast forward a couple of minutes:

Standing up is the hardest part.

that they curtsied all the way to the floor. It is no longer custom in the U.K., by the way.

or something stupid like that. Imagine spending all of that time practicing nonsense as if they are part of a royal court.

Every young woman at my gdaugter's ball engaged in volunteer work before their formal debut.
In our family, the ball was an acknowlegment (not a reward) for doing good things.
