(16,388 posts)It's a Gazelle. Made in the Netherlands. (Not cheap Chinese crap)
With electronics and battery tech from Bosh.

A wonderful assist for an old person.
There's even a FB group I look at called Ebike Cyclists Over 70

(8,477 posts)Thought it would be great for quick trips around the neighborhood.
But then I started paying attention to the traffic. There are just too many drivers who really dislike bikes of any kind. And the theft of ebikes (DU's spell checker doesn't think this is a word either) is pretty rampant. Finally, I just decided it would create more issues than it would resolve.

(16,388 posts)And even in just the local neighborhood, I avoid rush hour. People hot to get to work.
We're close to a local hike/bike trail around a lake. It's nice but getting more and more crowded with our population in this part of town growing like crazy. So I have been avoiding that because too many people isn't fun and even dangerous.
Theft is an issue if you don't have a secure place like a garage to keep it.
They come with a "cafe lock" so if you stop somewhere to just be a minute, the back wheel securely locks.
And they all have serial numbers that can be registered with a national theft reporting app. Allegedly someone shouldn't be able to sell it without the buyer checking to see if it's stolen. I also have one of those tile things hidden on it.
