Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThis is what I leased today (I don't know who that woman in the pic is).

2026 Hyundai Kona SEL premium. All wheel drive. Upgraded engine from the base model. 190 HP.
I have to say, I test drove a grey one. This thing moves. Very responsive.
So much different than my two older cars (2011 and 2012). Way too much technology for me, but I'll probably get used to it. I've been reading about these vehicles for awhile, and I think it may live up to the good reviews.
I pick it up Friday.
The finance manager actually reduced the lease price even further than I got it reduced with the salesman, as a nod to my cousin who recently retired from there.
I learned that I have changed quite a bit since I last bought a car in 2012. By this I mean...I didn't worry about being particularly polite with the finance manager when he tried to sell me all of the bullshit add-ons. My responses: Nope. Nope. Nope. You're wasting your breath. I don't want any of that shit. Nope. Nope. I said...NOPE!
The red color is nicer in person than it looks in the picture.

(23,378 posts)that you have to get re-applied every year.
I said...absolutely not.
He asked why, and I said...because every year they tried to upsell me like I'm an idiot (we got that package on my old Subaru).
He said "Oh! But the management has changed since then".
I looked at him and said "The fucking sub-frame rusted out to the tune of $4,000, even with that protectant on it".
That shut him up.

(12,120 posts)We didnt go through any of that up sell bullshit. The salesman brought the car to the house for a test drive, and sat on the front steps while we did it.
I told him we had a quote from another dealer for the same car, and he bettered it slightly while standing in our driveway. We had our money guy move funds into our checking account, and he came back in a couple of days to deliver the car.
I wrote him a check, again while standing in the driveway about $1500 under sticker, out the door, just before car prices exploded in spring 2021. Then we got in the car, he paired our phones to the bluetooth, explained the tech, got in a car that had followed him, and drove back to the dealership.

I didn't watch the entire 32 minutes and 40 second video. I have no intentions on purchasing a new vehicle any time soon.

(23,378 posts)Gabby? That's nice. I'm not interested in her, but maybe you can introduce her to some of the gentlemen upthread! They seem very interested in her.
I wouldn't introduce her to Harker though, because he doesn't stand a chance with her.
Niagara
(12,424 posts)She looks like she's what about 24 years young?
I'm not introducing her to anyone upthread because she's young enough to be their granddaughter!

(23,783 posts)You should spend as much time as possible getting familiar with the tech. After driving a 2008 Prius until 2 years ago, I got a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The salesman was giving me a tutorial in their lot, and one of my friends popped up beside me to say hi. That finished the tutorial. I asked my grandkids to show my how to use the radio. A few days after I got it, I was on my way to Cleveland, and had to pull into the rest area north of Marietta and figure out how to use the wipers and defrosters. Better now, but only because I ignore everything except the starter, wipers, climate control and radio. I sincerely tried to connect things to Bluetooth, and even though a year had passed, the system is still searching for my tablet. lol
I got a softcover owner's manual with my vehicle, but it is easier to google what you need to know.
Have fun!

(23,378 posts)I was just sitting here thinking about this. He showed me all kinds of stuff on the car, but I am realizing that I still don't know how to:
turn on the headlights (or maybe they are automatic?)
turn on the heat, air conditioner, defroster
raise the rear hatch
turn the radio on
etc etc
He's going to give me a full training session when I pick it up....
I wish I had listened better. I could do a lot of things from the steering wheel, but I don't. I'd probably hit the wrong button and my tablet would turn on, even it it was in the house with a dead battery.
