At sales I'm always looking for memorabilia from the 60s and 70s
that deal with rock music. I use to have a large collection and have retained a few nice concert poster from Detroit area concerts of that era. Just some stuff I really like and know about.
Now I'm finding most of it at sales where the kids are selling off their parents old stuff when they have passed away. Kind of makes me feel really old now.
Not one of my favorite bands, but I've come across a couple of collections of Kiss stuff and have done very well at the Mall with them. Never last long. I'm always looking for Grande Ballroom post cards and posters. Very hard to find, but always looking. When a see a box of old picture frames I go thru them as that is how I found a few.

(6,632 posts)My brother used to go to the Grande Ballroom. My friends and I went to East Town Theatre. I'll need to take a better look at garage sales.

(34,057 posts)Did Go to the East Town, Cobo, Royal Oak Music Theatre and others. Russ Gibb Productions and Gary Grimshaw the artist are a few of the things I look for. I have one Grimshaw poster signed by the artist for a concert at the State Fair Grounds, bands at that concert include MC-5, Chuck Berry, Sun Ra, Dr. John, Johnny Winter, The Stooges, Amboy Dukes and 6 or 7 other bands. Tickets $3.50.
Some of the best were the free concerts in the park in Ann Arbor, U of Detroit and Wayne State. They just had the 50th anniversary for Goose Lake, I was there too.
Good times.
I worked at Ford for 30 years and had lots of friends from Downriver. Give me a minute and I'll post a recording of The Rouge Plant Blues by Sticks and Stoned. Use to like to hear that on WABX on the way to work.

(34,057 posts)You might email www. entertainment.ha.com they do weekly auctions of rock memorabilia or www.webuyrockandroll.com/rocknroll/autographs . There is always eBay too. Those would be a good place to start.

(30,151 posts)the others sound like they would have greater value for me. They've been in a plastic tub for decades and I'd love to reclaim that space.

(25,258 posts)here in LA some of the estate sales are like mid-century modern showrooms of furniture, collectibles and art etc.
Because that generation got to buy all the cool stuff.
