So this is amusing.

I went to the bank one day last week and the teller and I were talking about pennies. She told me people have been coming in wanting to buy large amounts of pennies because they think they're going to be collectibles in the future. Uh huh. Maybe 200 years from now.

except for certain dates and their conditions. In 2024, over 3 billion pennies made so it's a sucker's gamble to hoard pennies made in the past 50 or more years. The ones that would be collectable would be the old Wheat Stalk pennies were made which was from from 1909 - 1958. I have a number of these including some Steel Wheat Stalk pennies I'll held onto for decades.

slim to nil. The people looking to buy the pennies from the bank seem to think that just because they're being discontinued will make them valuable someday.
