(53,410 posts)Great execution.
Ive thinking about you and wishing youd post some of your art. I love the contrast of your cats light colors and the beautiful dark green of the rug. It just pops right off the canvas. The details are amazing and the thickness and three dimensionality of your cats fur is beyond excellent. The cat being in the center of the canvas gives the painting boldness which most feline paintings dont do. Your cat being the principle objective for the painting gives it a portrait like feel.
Its very inspiring. The colors are luxuriant, rich and compelling. They draw you in and also demand your attention. Beautiful.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(130,647 posts)But one must start with a good photo (cats don't sit still for portraits). I think I will do more cats.

(2,520 posts)With digital photography I can delete the evidence of bad efforts.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(130,647 posts)You just let it dry and paint right over it. You can have many shots at getting it right, just like digital photography.

(26,088 posts)good stick figures, I'm always in awe of talented people who seem to have a magical gift of conjuring up images on blank surfaces.
This is so beautiful and realistic that it feels like I could reach out and touch him. Love the shading, especially on the white fur, that gives him 3 dimensionality.

Everything about that is on point: detail, lighting, depth/proportion. You MUST have attended art school.
Seriously, amazing.

(130,647 posts)I didn't go to art school as such but I've been taking painting classes as one of my retirement hobbies. Some formal instruction definitely helps. And thanks for the kind words.
