Started a new blanket--this one for my granddaughter

It's her Christmas present. (She's getting to be a big girl now--sleeping in a big-girl bed!)

Here is a picture I found similar to the pattern I'm working with. I'm going to use 3 colors: pink, pink ombre, and white.

That’s going to be beautiful! I love to crochet but haven’t done it in years. I have a wonderful stitch book that has a lot of medallion patterns. I want to find someone who knows how to put them together.

out there. I have learned new stitches and patterns and I know there are videos about putting medallions, squares etc together. Good luck finding what you need; I am sure you will!

I went back to crocheting after many years because I had a reason to do so: a grandchild for whom I had to make something!!!

As I was making her blanket, I realized I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I am improving, and I love looking at stitches, patterns, etc on You Tube and Pinterest. It is fairly certain I won't go beyond flat projects, but I am always up for a new stitch or pattern.

I have a string of baby blankets coming up and an unfinished afghan on deck.

Since I got back into it, I have finished 5, have 2 in progress and 3 more for babies coming this year. Guess I need to re-learn how to post pictures here so I can share them.

I sometimes miss my knitting days... I knitted entire outfits for my granddaughter, enjoyed every stitch.

She's 21 now..

Post a photo of your finished blanket!

I made my grand girl a pink ombré quilt. She chose the pattern, and said she wanted it to be pink. I was skeptical, but it turned out really pretty.
Very light pink on one end, graduating to very dark pink at the other.

Looks cozy!

from his growing-up years. I backed it with tie-dye fleece so it would be nice and soft.

The pink colors you chose for your project just screams “girl” 🥰.

There is so much to be said for crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, etc. Soothes the spirit, rests the mind (most of the time - just finished a bear sweater for grandson that nearly caused me to loose my mind), keeps the hands busy making it difficult to eat chocolate or chips 😄 Plus you end up with something beautiful for a loved one or yourself.

Your granddaughter will love her new big girl blanket.

There is a You Tube demo from Creative Grandma of an ombre blanket that shades from dark to light. It is beautiful and made with an interesting stitch.

I am going to have to try one of those.

the ombre I used looked good, but with each panel I made, I didn't get enough changes in the shades of pink.

Blanket is not yet done--my son's family came down with COVID and their visit has been delayed.

I am working on one using sideways shell stitch. It is a fun stitch but easy (looks harder than it really is)
The blanket is pink and gray stripes.

I love learning new stitches.

though at the ends of each panel, there were some triple (treble) crochet to make each end come to a point.
