(72,137 posts)I get the "New Wave" description, but that prechorus is decidedly prog because of the complex chord they're singing & the prominent Hammond organ, which weren't elements of New Wave at the time.
The chorus is definitely NW, though. Nice mix of styles.

(72,137 posts)...is clearly not a Hammond organ. It's a Vox or Farfisa through a fuzz box. I was specific about Hammond.
The Squeeze video will not play for me, but I don't consider Squeeze new wave despite the time coinciding.
The other 2 do sound like Hammond organs to me, but the organ isn't all that prominent in the 3rd one, but it drives the 4th one.
But, I left out obvious new wave songs with organ. Pump It Up by Elvis Costello, is a fine example, but it is clearly a Vox, probably a Continental, which were more common in Europe than the Jaguar that I once had.
For those bands, expanding on the punk ethos, but with more focus on the craft, Hammonds are rare, because they're big, heavy, and fragile (Lots of moving parts). Those 80s bands didn't have big crews, so those electronic organs were perfect, which is why we heard so m7ch of that sound during newxwave.
