Elson Britt. My father was a fan and was happy to hear he was appearing in a bar in Paterson, N.J. So they got a babysitter for my ass and went to the show.

Years later, my mother reported the show was a disappointment as Elton was drunk.

Northern N.J. in the 40's and 50's had a "Cowboy" station that was broadcast out of the Mosque Theater in Newark, N.J. I remember Gene Autry, Tex Ritter, Bing's country stuff and on and on. Of my peers still around, one of the memories was a song, "Lay That Pistol Down. "

Back to Youtube, Lay That Pistol Down was by Bing and the Andrew Sisters.
