(12,879 posts)Evans was one of the true geniuses and innovators of jazz piano. Hes often described as lyrical or an impressionist, but his blues sense was fantastic and he could swing his ass off, too.
He was a great accompanist as well as an incandescent soloist. No slouch as a composer, either.
And he got into some experimental stuff as well: Conversations With Myself, the album where he overdubbed electric piano duets; and the record he made with George Russell with the track Event V among others (Living Time?).

(12,879 posts)This guy was ridiculous! His harmonic vision was unique, and his gorgeous playing remains a shining beacon for us mere mortals. I could eat those thick chords for dessert!
What a household that must have been, with the Evans brothers growing up and learning together.
