very very sweet...these strings make my guitar sound like a real gibson...why have I never heard of these strings before? It's almost like I got a new guitar....

I use the same stings, but much lighter, 12/53's.

(2,693 posts)It's an acoustic jumbo and after playing for and hour my fingers were starting to get a little torn up...but I was playing so aggressively because I was really digging the sound!

(54,770 posts)What tuning are you using. Unless your guitar is a baritone, you really have to tune it down to keep the bridge or something from stressing. If it is a regular acoustic, I'd probably try medium Elixirs.

(2,693 posts)and found a Baritone online tuner...so it is tuned down a bit and the E string seems a little looser than I'm used to...but after a couple minutes it's holding tune and sounding great....yeah I ordered these and didn't even realize what Baritone strings were...makes me want to play even more...really a work out for the fingers

(6,568 posts)Even with a truss rod, 16s at concert pitch can do some serious damage to the neck.

(2,693 posts)That is the first thing I noticed when I started to string it...either bust your string or bust your neck...interesting mistake on my part...apparently the real downside is less projection or volume...tho honestly I don't seem to notice a lack of volume or tone...exact opposite...hearing a lot of bells...

(69,808 posts)The Martin is at normal tuning range, but i use the lightest gauge 12's i can find. The other one (and old Harmony Ambassador) has normal gauge strings but i tune it down to C#. Cool for slide.
