Sunspot Region 3664 (bottom right) remains quite active and has produced two more powerful flares over the past 12 hours. I took the photo at 12:47 PM today, May 11, 2024.

(5,107 posts)I'm glad to provide the technical details!
I used a Canon EOS REBEL T5i camera with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens.
You must use a solar fiter to photograph the sun in order to avoid damaging your eyes and the camera's sensor. I used an ultra dark optical glass filter with an exposure factor of 16.5 fstops.
I used a tripod and a remote shutter trigger to avoid movement of the camera during the shots.
I focused the lens manually.

Hope this helps.

(5,107 posts)Had a few hours of partly cloudy skies today and got some lucky shots between the clouds. Cloudy again tonight, so no aurora viewing.
