This is an immense site. Artifacts from Early bronze age, pre 1,000 BC to abandonment in 1,500 AD.
Everybody who was anybody lived there starting before the Hittites. With so many things to view I may do 3 posts for this site.

Ephesus is an ancient city in Turkey’s Central Aegean region, near modern-day Selçuk. Its excavated remains reflect centuries of history, from classical Greece to the Roman Empire – when it was the Mediterranean’s main commercial center – to the spread of Christianity. Paved streets wind past squares, baths and monumental ruins. The Temple of Hadrian was built before 138 A.D. for Emperor Hadrian’s visit.

Most ruins today are Roman.

1. I was there in about 1965! I think the priestesses at the temple of diana called

the little orphans or foundlings they took care of their cubs....

8. I was on Crete in the mid 70's

and visited Rhodos for a long weekend. I had a duty and travel restriction and couldn't get to Türkiye.

I've seen similar ruins and they never fail to impress me. Built so long ago, by people long dead. And yet these still stand!

The angel at the end is just gorgeous!

If you get teh chance go. Try to avoid the summer. Our guide said it is wall to wall people in season.

Incredible experience! The library is stunning and apparently they hold outdoor concerts in the amphitheatre.

18. Turkiye, yeah! It's one of the countries I always wanted to visit

and I mean the whole country, from Istanbul to as many of the archaeological sites in the east as I could manage, especially the really ancient ones like Catalhoyuk. The period before people got crushed by the endless drudgery of agriculture fascinates me.

19. First time there

Took advantage of a tour that was relatively inexpensive.
Shoulder season, even if the weather is less predictable is when to go. (When touring a rug factory, we got snow in April.)
Unfortunately tours will be more from the US because of air travel.
