10. Perfect picture! Our hummingbirds came back to our yard in Newark.

I was worried we put the feeders out too late. They found it and started showing up late last week.

17. I put my feeders out early, but the birds didn't show up until April 28. Just one male and then I didn't see any females

Until about 8 May, so yours were probably timed about right.. I was very glad to see them and it does look like there’s a nest nearby. I just hope they’re successful.

12. Pro-photographer here, remember...

A flash can freeze motion too. If it's bright enough you can set your shutter speed and ISO for quality and still freeze them. 1/250, ISO 100

21. Thanks for the tip usregimechange. Before gaining experience, I used to wonder

why in the world would someone use a flash on a bright day. I've learned to appreciate fill flash, but I'd no idea about freezing motion this way. Thanks!

13. Alas , their migration thru our area has ended

There were less seen this year. It is theorized that with continuous SE winds with fewer N wind days, that they didn’t stop here, but just kept on flying.

16. I don't have a lot of them here, but they usually come here to nest.

There’s at least one male and one female that come here all the time. I think there is a nest nearby. I hope the Blue Jays haven’t raided it. They were definitely late showing up this year and not nearly as many they usually peak out at about July, when the babies are fledging
