I belong to a group, "Photography without rules"

I posted some fun photos, the first two, and member commented how they resembled hummingbird photos, and it got me thinking. How to stop those flapping wings. Increase the shutter speed! (of course that's not how I did it, but still...)

These sure do break all the rules and I love them! Of course, the one rule they don't break? Be creative! And you are.

Sometimes you just have to go with instinct.

From my archives: I was walking along the river hoping to get a photo with geese in flight skimming the river, but every time I spotted such a photo, I was just to slow getting my camera up and focused. Discouraged I give up and started to walk home. Naturally I saw the shot I wanted, but just lifted up my camera, pointed towards the birds and shot. It's still one of my favorite photos.

I was after one shot and another happened that was so much better than the original, serendipity. Bolsters my opinion, it's not the equipment, not even the planning, but just as simple as "being there"
