Related: About this forumAccording to William Shatner
According to William Shatner, Jack (Jack Lord) tried on the Captain Kirk uniform, looked at himself in a three-way mirror, and said, "There is no way I'm playing this (expletive) role," and walked out.

(24,889 posts)1. Jack Lord was one of the best Felix Leiters
In the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, Mr. Lord played the CIA agent, Leiter, as Bond's compadre against Spectre.
The role would be recast in many of the subsequent films but in the original novels, Leiter and Bond have an ongoing friendship/partnership.
In retrospect, Shatner was perfect for Captain Kirk. But it makes me wonder what other actors were considered for the role.
