I love "The Bear" but I don't think of it as a comedy series, do you?
Yes there are some amusing scenes but to me, it's mainly a drama, or "dramedy."

I liked The Last of Us right up to the point where they killed off the one actor/character I really liked (I won't spoil it for those who are or intend to watch).
I could not get past Severance's monotonous white set--try as I might. I watched White Lotus out of curiosiy and because I've liked Walton Goggins since his great stint alongside Timothy Olyphant in Justified--but I found it lacking this season, at least. I haven't seen the latest season of the Diplomate--the first was pretty good--nor any of the other shows up for best dramatic show.
I'd agree that the Bear seems to be out of category as a "comedy." I'm halfway through this current season and finding it to be really disappointing, however. Maybe it gets better?
I can't really speak to the rest of the comedies nor the limited series...
Overall, my impression is of an Emmy Year with some definite "stand-outs" but weaker than expected overall. YMMV..

(37,861 posts)For a Seth Rogen project, it was pretty tame on the drug jokes but still too many F-bombs for some folks.
Compared to the hilarity of "The Studio," the comedy on "The Bear" is non-existent. It blows my mind that they're both competing in the same category.
I loved "The Pitt" because ... well ... I'm from Pittsburgh, so I guess I relate to it. The show is very well done but there are lots of quesy, retch-inducing scenes of surgery and seriously injured patients. Beyond that, the stories and acting are both quite good.
Many of these shows aren't even available on my cable, and I don't know how people can judge as to which show is the BEST when we can't see them all.

(35,665 posts)On the list. She was brilliant in Sirens.
And Walter Goggins and Sam Rockwell for White Lotus.
Goggins was beautifully amoral - but Sam Rockwell . . . I'm still not judging. We listen, we don't judge.
