Heavy rainfall triggers mudslides in SoCal on heels of Kay

Floodwaters and mudslides swept through portions of Southern California on the heels of Tropical Storm Kay on Monday, triggering immediate evacuation orders for parts of the Inland Empire.

Flash flood warnings were issued Monday following heavy rainfall from the night before across San Bernardino County, including Oak Glen, where one Twitter user caught video of an enormous flow of flash-flood debris suddenly overtaking a neighborhood street.

"If I had been 2 min[utes] earlier...," Dr. Roger Seheult posted along with the video. He explained in a second post that the debris had come from the burn scars of the El Dorado wildfire, which had destroyed some 22,000 acres in the Yucaipa area in the fall of 2020. Investigators had determined the fire had ignited from a pyrotechnic device at a gender reveal party.

An extended version of Seheult's original video showed a man watching another round of debris come charging down the road before he quickly turned and ran for cover.

'Our building's covered': Video shows mud rushing over California saloon, 'catastrophic' rain

Mudslides and flooding unleashed by heavy rains in Southern California prompted evacuation and shelter in place orders for thousands of people and on Tuesday, the aftermath was being felt across the state.

Rain that fell in a mountainous area east of Los Angeles were the remnants of a tropical storm and shot boulders and other debris across roads damaging structures including a commercial building where the mud was so high it collapsed the roof.

Areas heavily impacted and evacuated in San Bernardino County include Forest Falls and the City of Yucaipa which includes a portion of the San Bernardino National Forest some 70 miles east of Los Angeles.

After the Yucaipa Police Department issued an evacuation order for the city, video captured by Roger Seheult shows a fast wall of mud quickly cover the road in front of him. The mudflow is seen pouring past the Oak Glen Steak House, causing a man standing closer by to run as it continued to come.

1. I hope weather forecasters are more accurate there than in

San Diego. Our forecasters are mere talking heads with big boobs and a cute cat story. We got about 1" of rain from this last "storm of the century". My dog, who has been dead for 2 years, can predict weather in San Diego better than the local for casters here. They are so fucked up in a rush for ratings every damn day that they can't legitimately predict, let alone announce the weather report. Boobies is all they care about at the local stations...big boobies get better ratings than a correct weather forecast. This is why I do not trust local weather reports and haven't for 20 years. When it is 75° they say it is "hot" then the next time they mention 75° they say it is "cold". Fucking morons!!!
