More than 33,000 without power as storm slams into California
With more than 15 million people across California under flood alerts, heavy rain will return to the state on Saturday after an overnight pause.
Over 33,000 customers across California are without power as the state continues to be walloped by an ongoing atmospheric river. The state's coastal cities of Aptos and Capitola continue to deal with significant impacts from multiple rounds of rain and coastal flooding. Coastal roads have been partially washed away with many businesses and homes flooded.
Another break in the rain will occur during the day Sunday before much of California is slammed by heavy rain overnight Sunday throughout the day Monday.
More rain is expected throughout the week as the West Coast continues dealing with the wet pattern. As much as over a foot of rain is expected for parts of Northern California at higher elevations throughout the next seven days, with 5 to 10 inches of rain expected across Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.

'The ground is saturated': It's raining again in California on Saturday
Rain is falling in California again Saturday as the state once again faces the possibility of flooding, possible mudslides and damaging wind gusts.
After other massive storms soaked the region, forecasters say several more storms will arrive in coming days. Together they could mean rains that continue through mid-January, bringing persistent wet weather and with it the ongoing possibility of mudslides and flooding.
"Multiple systems over the past week have saturated soils, increased flow in rivers and streams, and truly set the stage for this to become a high impact event," the weather service said.
Another atmospheric river was forecast to hit northern California late Friday and spread to central California Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Atmospheric rivers channel warm tropical air into precipitation.

In the pacific northwest it seem to be everywhere and that few are unscathed after two earthquakes and the storms.
A tree fell through the store I go to to get my medications filled. I had just switched to them last week and now they are closed.
What a nightmare it is around here and having people out vandalizing people/places makes it so much more difficult!
It blew hard last night and I could not sleep and I was fearing the temporary fix on the long fence that went down was going to fail.

It was windy and rainy *A.F.!* last night, starting around 2am, but has been calm since daybreak.
I see lots about the flooding down in Santa Cruz, but nothing about our local scene, really weird since the River was forecast to flood today.
Anybody seeing anything about the RR, on Twitter or anywhere? 
Yeah, I could go drive a couple blocks and see for myself.... later though.
