Shasta County seeks poll workers as ballots arrive for June 2 election

REDDING, Calif. — Shasta County election officials say the county still needs additional poll workers to staff voting locations for the June 2 election.

County Clerk and Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis said the county is short about 15 workers needed to fill roughly 300 poll worker positions. Some previous workers have chosen not to return, which Curtis attributed in part to political disagreements.

“I basically want to blend the Republicans and the Democrats together at the polling place,” Curtis said. “We’ve lost a few of them, not most, most people are good, but there are a few that are so political that they just don't want to do it.”

Despite the shortage, Curtis said election preparations remain on schedule and conditions inside the elections office have improved as Election Day approaches.
