Coral Springs Sets November Election to Fill Vacancy After Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer's Death

CORAL SPRINGS, FL — Coral Springs voters will decide who takes a seat left open by the death of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer.

The city commission met during a retreat on Wednesday and agreed on a plan. Seat 3 will appear on the ballot in the election on Nov. 3. The winner will serve the two years left on the term, city officials announced on Thursday.

Metayer was found dead April 1. Her husband, Stephen Bowen, has been charged with premeditated murder in her death.

Metayer was first elected to the Coral Springs City Commission in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. On Nov. 13, 2025, fellow commissioners appointed her to a second one-year term as vice mayor.
