Related: About this forumMy house was struck by lightning Thursday night...
I wasn't home but my husband was here with the dogs. Hit a large tree that sits right next to the house and jumped to the screen porch. Blew off the soffit and bent the frames of two screens. Split a few boards. Blackened the side.
Inside it knocked frames off the wall. We lost one tv, the modem and DVR. And the stupid phone which I hate and want to get rid of anyway.
Missed the rest of the Olympics and closing ceremony. I'm glad I was gone!
AT & T replaced the boxes and got us up and running again this morning.
Musta been some storm.
How did you all make out?

(522 posts)We have had lots of pop-up storms all around us, a few passing over us. No strikes, thank goodness. (NE Georgia)
Been quiet this week so far.

(12,256 posts)Hopefully that's all the damage - sometimes with lightning it can take a few days for electronics to die. It doesn't take a direct hit either, just close is enough to induce high voltages in wiring (AND PLUMBING).

(31,428 posts)Scary. We lost the computer, a TV, modem, phones. Possibly my printer is dead. (I am not sure what is wrong with it), and a light fixture.

Glad to hear no one was hurt in your incident. I'll bet your dogs thought that Hell had come to town!
Rain is desperately needed here but storms not a good way to get it.
