They don't give a shit about the students because they will keep enough of a shell of a public system running as a dumping ground for all the students the charter company doesn't want to deal with.

(27,690 posts)Jay Bookman had a column about this, too. The wording is so misleading I'm afraid it will pass with most people having no idea what they are voting for. grrrr I hate republicans!!

(13,920 posts)I had to read that damned amendment very very carefully to get the gist of what it was doing.
Explain to your Democratic friends and family that this will further erode our public education system by diverting taxpayer dollars into private corporations.
And simplify things for your republican friends - just tell them that this will cause taxes to go up.
This is a horrible amendment, definitely intended to weaken our public schools while enriching charter school corporations and can't be allowed to pass.
