In Illinois 13th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Rodney Davis has an approval rating of 40%, and 39% disapprove of his job performance. President Trump has an approval rating of 45% and a disapproval rating of 50% in Davis district. Speaker Paul Ryan is unpopular with 34% of voters saying they approve of the job he is doing and a majority (50%) responding that they disapprove.
In an initial hypothetical matchup, Democrat Betsy Dirksen Londrigan receives 42% of the vote and Davis receives 45%. Although Dirksen Londrigan is down, 48% who are very excited to vote plan to cast their ballot for her, while 44% support Davis. A large majority of voters (78%) indicate they have major (62%) or minor (16%) concerns after Davis voted for a health care plan that allows insurance companies to impose an unfair age tax on people over 50. After voters were given more information about the tax and health care plans, the race ties up with both candidates receiving 43% of the vote.
We have some major colleges in the 13th district with I hope an aggressive college voter registration effort going on and I hope to see an aggressive Betsy Londrigan going at the failures of Rodney Davis of not serving his constituents but the corporate powers to be.....

(10,437 posts)Rodney Davis is nothing more than another "career" republican politician who has never worked a private sector job....and fears town hall meetings with his constituents.

(10,437 posts)My wife and I attended a local meet and greet with Betsy just a few blocks from out home. I will say if first impressions are an indicator of a person, my first impression of Betsy is she is the real deal who can take on the likes of our current Rep Rodney Davis and beat him. I had a 10 minute conversation with her and she knows stuff. She can articulate and think. I had another 10 minute conversation with her husband who is a longtime good friend of one my good friends from Springfield. I am as impressed with him as I am with his wife. The last time I can say this happened is when Obama ran for Senate and we were at a phone-in meet and greet with he and his wife Michelle. And after Michelle ended her part, I told my wife, these people are the real deal. We never looked back and did all we could to see him elected as our senator and as our president both times.
Betsy Dirkesen Londrigan is exactly who we need representing us. And we will do all we can to make it happen. I'm scheduling a meeting with her campaign manager and field operations manger in next few weeks to discuss making this happen.
