Payment to Nick Provenzano from Rep. Hultgren's office was for work before firing
U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgrens office made a payment to his former chief of staff, Nick Provenzano, in June months after his firing in March.
The June 1 payment of $1,083.33 was for field consulting work. While the disbursement appeared on a second quarter financial report to the U.S. Federal Election Commission, the money was for work Provenzano performed before the congressman fired him.
While it hit the FEC reportings as a June payment, it was actually from the work he did in the month of March, leading up to his firing, said Christopher Kichka, Hultgrens communications director. Mr. Provenzano has not done any work for the congressman either on the official or unofficial side since his termination.
Provenzano submitted his final invoice after his termination.
