Illinois
Related: About this forumOnly 1 state has met the federal government's criteria for reopening Illinois
ProPublica based its analysis on state-level data, updated daily, for five metrics stemming from the guidelines for reopening issued by the White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its metrics are the number of positive tests per 100,000 people; the percentage of tests that are positive; the number of tests per 100,000 per day; the availability of ICU beds; and the number of hospital visits for "flu-like illness."
Thirty states have met only three of the goals or fewer, and three of them Alabama, Alaska, and West Virginia have met only one of the five.

(31,428 posts)He addressed the racist incidents before he said anything else. He spoke about Cooper, Floyd et. al.
The presser was from the Jackie Joyner-Kersee center.
JB is doing a superb job.

(31,428 posts)So many of the questions asked by the press are "gotcha" questions. They ask about his haircut. They accuse him of going to Lake Geneva over the holiday. They try to throw in misleading statements about the prisoner releases.
He handles all of these questions with grace and professionalism. Can you imagine trump responding to the same questions?
I met JB very early in his bid for governor, and have interacted with him many times since. It was a bit of a wild season. We did not have quite as many Democrats running for the governor's seat as for the Presidency, but there were still several! His campaign was professional, and self-financed from day one.
I have to say that he can be very short with people when he is tired. I have witnessed it. That is why I respect the professionalism of his pressers. He has another side.
He did not sign up for this when he sought office! Of course, none of us signed up for it.
Forgive my ramblings. JB is one of the few bright spots in this whole nightmare.

(11 posts)I'm proud and relieved that our Governor held firm against the pressure to reopen sooner than outlined by the CDC.
