State budget cuts are GETTING.ME.DOWN.

We moved to Springfield in late February. My husband was supposed to start his new job on March 4th, but STILL hasn't gotten his Illinois medical license (he applied in early January). Apparently there is only one person in the office working on physician licensing for the entire state. We got an email last week saying the governor had signed a bill permitting the rehiring of state employees at IDFPR who had been laid off, but they haven't been rehired yet. It took 3 weeks just to review 5 applications. Even if my husband gets his license tomorrow, he couldn't start work until April 1st. He left his job in Houston on February 8th. At least we have good credit and can get by while he's not working. I don't know how people manage to go months and years without working.
