mark kirk lovely statement on the shutdown and the ACA:

Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) released the following statement:

"I stand with the majority of Americans in opposing ObamaCare, which is why I have voted against it 36 times. I support the House-passed measure that defunds ObamaCare without increasing federal spending by a dime while preventing a government shutdown."

That's our very popular "moderate" senator.

Just sent Sen. Kirk a blistering email about his hypocrisy in having some of the best medical care in the country, yet being willing to deny it to many others. He of all people should know. Time to elect a democrat.

I've been emailing him for many years demanding to know why he claims to be an independent but votes straight down the party line except on occasional bullshit that he can put in his campaign ads. I just posted on his Facebook page that we got his House seat, and he's next.

It's as if he were pushed into making this statement under duress. It's brevity and lack of emotional context make it sound forced to me. He wasn't particularly moderate in the House, or even before his stroke, but he's been much more likely to break from his party since he returned from his long absence.

I've never liked Kirk and have always voted against him. He represented my district in the House, so I've followed his votes for years.

And no jokes about how that just might be possible in Chicago.
