Everything old is new again

I put this on my Facebook page, but some of you may remember these days. Gotta wonder what Bob Ray would say about recent R lies about Springfield, OH ....

"In the mid 70s, Iowa welcomed a number of refugees from Vietnam. Some settled in my hometown, Marshalltown. I remember rumors going around that some Vietnamese people has taken and eaten some of the swans in the town's beautiful cemetery, Riverside. Wow, everything old is new again, and unfortunately, bigotry doesn't die, it just comes back, uglier than ever."

thing in Wisconsin. We also had our own "homegrown" flavor of fear mongering and bigotry. It involved the tribes exerting their treaty fishing rights in Northern Wisconsin. There was all kinds of clamor from the taverns, motels and resort owners and many of the rabble about how the fishing was being destroyed and how the tribes were just spearing fish and throwing them in the garbage etc. The racist stuff was all there as well and things did turn violent in several places.
