Related: About this forumAny insight into why Gov. Beshear is so popular here in KY?
I get why Democrats like him and he seems like a genuinely decent and likable fellow who takes his work seriously. Would he stand a chance running for a federal office such as senator or representative?

(6,214 posts)Get rid of teacher pensions and huge pay cuts for teachers, municipal workers, police and fire. Beshear is very popular with the teachers union here. Also, Beshear's father was a very popular Governor who introduced Kynnect, the forerunner to Obamacare.

(262 posts)1.) Kentucky has had Covid, Tornadoes, Floods,Mass Shootings. He handled those things masterfully. He is authentic and caring. My Dad tends to vote Republican, but he likes Andy. His face lights up talking about him. For him it was how he handled Covid. He was respectful and factual. He didnt politicize it.
2.) Republicans have a veto proof majority. This helps him because even if he vetoes a bill it still goes through. This has kept him from angering cultural conservatives. No drama.
3.) Matt Bevin was a dumpster fire.
4.) His Dad was a popular Governor. People trust the name.

(6,131 posts)It confirms some of my thoughts about Beshear. I liked his dad too, and you're all right, Bevin was an ass.
