Fare-free rides coming to Lexington for Election Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Need a ride to your nearest polling place? Lextran is offering all routes free of charge on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.

Lexington's bus service said according to the Commonwealth of Kentucky State Board of Elections, Fayette County had a 13.3% voter turnout in the 2024 primary election, and it hopes free rides will give more residents the chance to vote.

"Lextran is proud to offer fare-free rides this Election Day," said Fred Combs, Lextran general manager. "We aim to alleviate the transportation challenges that many in our community encounter when accessing the polls."

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Kentuckians can find their nearest polling location by visiting the state's Voter Information Center. More on voting in Lexington can be found at lexingtonky.gov/vote.
