Gov. Edwards tours first meadery set to open in Louisiana

Louisiana's first meadery is set to open in West Monroe later this year. Owners Curtis Sims and Cameron Myers are both veterans with plans to have an all-vet staff at Two Warriors Meadery, 95 McClendon Ave. Suite A, West Monroe.

Gov. John Bel Edwards toured the facility Monday to talk about the Veterans First Business Initiative. The bipartisan effort to support entrepreneurs and small businesses passed this year.

Louisiana Economic Development will highlight and promote more than 40,000 vet-owned businesses.

Owners will apply for certification, and certified businesses will be listed in a public database. Additionally, veterans will get an insignia to use on promotional and marketing materials to show their business is part of the program.

seems like it would be very sweet. The program sounds like a real boost for vets.
