Related: About this forum16 shot during Sunday outing in New Orleans park
I confess I checked the headline quickly this morning because of curiosity about the roots of a mass shooting. It was an exceptionally bloody but familiar story, according to the Time Picayune:

(11,619 posts)It hit my ankle. After which, I was required to clean my weapon, run one mile while chanting, "I will not hurt my baby again.," and then slept with it so that I would not forget it's proper place in our relationship.
To this day, I will not own a gun. Mine was an abusive relationship.

(16,471 posts)(there is a lot of my earlier life when I did some work for the DOD as a contractor, just wiped out that part of my life) but anyway a friend was going to teach me how to use it. He set out a target on a trash barrel and loaded the magazine. He showed me how to hold it and shoot it. After emptying the clip in the middle of the target. We both looked at each other, I put the gun and clip in the box and gave it to him.
I have not touched a gun since, that was 1993.
