Kenner City Council asks Mike Yenni to resign as Jefferson Parish president over sexting scandal

The governing body of Mike Yenni's home city, where he spent more than five years as mayor, has joined in the growing call for the embattled Jefferson Parish president to resign over the sexting scandal {involving a 17 year old man} that has shaken his administration.

The Kenner City Council on Thursday night unanimously approved a resolution urging Yenni to step down immediately. Three of the members are running in next month's election for the mayoral seat Yenni vacated to assume the parish presidency in January.

Later Thursday night, the Harahan City Council also voted unanimously to call for Yenni's resignation. There was no discussion.

The Gretna and Westwego councils and the Parish Council passed similar measures earlier this month.
