Sanitary Pad Collection for Maryland Correctional Institution for Women

For many of us, living through a menstrual cycle with no access to sanitary products is something we've never had to deal with. For the those at the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women, lack of adequate supplies is a monthly reality. At the request of the warden, the Reproductive Justice Inside coalition is working to collect sanitary napkins and cash donations to buy packages of various sizes/flows to provide women of MCIW these necessary items. For those who prefer to donate in person, we have two established drop offs: one at 8905 Fairview Road, Suite #401, Silver Spring MD 20910 (MD NARAL) and one at 512 Orchard Street, Baltimore MD 21201 (attn: NAACP).

If you are unable to donate in person or would like to contribute more, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Fund has created an online fundraising page. Your donations to the 501(c)3 will go toward buying sanitary napkins that will be delivered to MCIW. No donation is too big or too small - each donation received ensures that we can provide more women at MCIW with the basic health items they need.

Reproductive Justice Inside is a statewide coalition of 11 organizations who are interested in learning just how sexual and reproductive healthcare is experienced by systems-involved women and girls in Maryland. Through story collection, policy, and research, Reproductive Justice Inside aims to create the conditions where systems-involved individuals can be in complete control of their reproductive futures and freedom.

It's medieval shaming of women, ridicule them, demean them, make them suffer for having a period, for being a woman, for being vulnerable as prisoners and having to power, not even to have a little human dignity.

I hate stuff like this. Its serves no purpose other than to belittle women.

This is part of the cost of incarceration. Letting them bleed is a health hazard.
It's part of the war on women by those bastards.
