Related: About this forumLooking for a housing/roommate situation.
Someone was kind enough to direct me to this specific thread. So, it will duplicate another thread in the DU lounge.
This is me attempting to network and hoping that I am not breaking any DU rules.
(If so, I will cheerfully accept corrective actions.)
It is my hope to find a housing situation in the Greater Baltimore Area. Something a bit farther afield might be acceptable if I can get to public transportation with relative ease.
Here are my basic demographic details:
61 years old, female, straight but not narrow.
I do not smoke, drink, or use drugs. (Unless you count chocolate, then I am Hard. Core.)
If this post is not in violation of any DU policy, then I would love to hear back if you are the friend of a friend who has some space to rent or is moving to the area and might wish to share an apartment.
My primary philosophy regarding the challenge of sharing a domicile and housing expenses is the need for respect and communication.
We are all different with our notions of privacy and cleanliness and finances. It's important to see the other person's point of view and create an atmosphere where all folks involved are reasonably happy. The last thing that I want is a situation where I am happy and other people are not.
Win/win is what I am looking for.
Thanks, everyone.

(26,724 posts)But I honestly doubt you'll find a roommate this way.
I'd try something like Craig's list, maybe a local community bulletin board.
And do carefully vet your future roommate.

(12,858 posts)Maybe try local library branch.
Even if you're not religious, maybe ask at local Unitarian or UCCM church.
YWCA groups?

(20 posts)Hi Collimator:
Are you still looking for a roommate?
Would love to contact you privately but don't know how. I don't post often.
I am interested.

(1,873 posts)Give me a day or two, and I will try to set up a "burner" email address. Then I will send you a message with the address. Please don't be offended, but I only want to be cautious.
I hope that you can understand.
Just to give a hint about my personality, I'm currently a big fan of "Brooklyn 99" and I used to love, "30 Rock", "Firefly" and "Bones". I'm not saying that television is my whole life, but you can glean a lot about a person from their entertainment preferences. For example, if you said that you enjoyed bear-baiting, that would be a definite "NO" from me. (That's a joke, btw. Not that bear-baiting is funny, but I hope you get what I mean.)
I also grew up watching "Star Trek, TOS" but I do not own a set of Spock ears.

(20 posts)Thanks for your reply.
I understand your caution and is the reason I am not saying too much.
I am looking forward to going into more detail once I get a personal email address. I am female. Are you?
Going to be looking out for your response.

(1,873 posts)Listen, I am so sorry. I cannot find out the exact path to send you a message. I feel so stupid. The forum for asking questions is a thousand threads long and I can't figure out a concise way to search for specific information. I love this forum for its content and some of the community here seems interesting, but right now, this seems like the least user-friendly forum that I have ever dealt with.
That's me being grumpy, btw. I hate feeling so old and stupid. Maybe someone who reads this will take pity on me and send along a pointer or two on how to navigate around this place.
I did figure out how to send myself a message, which was not very helpful. Also, to answer your question, I am female. I describe myself as straight but not narrow and my friends describe me as intelligent and goofy. (Though right now, I seriously doubt the "intelligent" part.)
With some luck, I will be reaching out to you soon.

(221,922 posts)But to send and receive them back requires a minimum of 50 posts, a sensible precaution against disruptors here. I hope that answers one of your questions.
