A Montgomery County police officer who was found shot in a Silver Spring parking garage died of a self-inflicted wound, police said Tuesday.
The ruling on the manner of Officer Thomas J. Bombas death was made by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia, Montgomery police said in a news release. The officer died Monday at a hospital in the District.
In announcing the finding, police said they are still evaluating evidence as part of their investigation. A police spokesman said earlier Tuesday that the investigation involves many aspects, including a search for any witnesses and a review of any video from surveillance cameras and Bombas body-worn camera.
In the news release, police said Bombas body-worn camera had not been activated.
